Ontologies can have multiple benefits for databases:
improved search
modelling of database constraints
guideline for database integration
data exchange formats
organisation of metadata
long term data retention
I will discuss these and the relevant techniques. Afterwards, we should have a brainstorming on what this means for our research projects (open_eGo, open_FRED, planned: SzenarienDB).
