| Title: | Image Schemas as Conceptual Building Blocks for Concept Invention |
In my talk I will present some of the ideas and results from my recent research. I will discuss three aspects of image schemas and their role in computational concept invention. These are: How are/can image schemas be structured formally? What is the relationship between image schemas and conceptualisations of objects and events? What role does image schema play in concept invention? For the first two empirical support will be presented as I will introduce two of the experiments that has been recently (and still is) undertaken. Finally the results from these experiments will be discussed with the aim to support the idea of how image schemas in conceptual blending can forward the research on the symbol grounding problem in artificial intelligence.
